The Panda Years
A Legend in the Making

Recruited by the University of Alberta, Tarin made an immediate impact. In her debut 2004 season, she was named the U of A’s Female Rookie Athlete of the Year, Canada West Rookie of the Year, and a member of the CIS All-Rookie Team. This was only the beginning of a historic run. Tarin led the Pandas to four Canada West Championships (2005, 2006, 2007, and 2010) and three CIS National Championships (2006, 2007, and 2010).

Banner Year

The 2008-2009 season proved to be a banner year, as Tarin was named both the Canada West and CIS Player of the Year, while also receiving the Bakewell Trophy as the U of A’s Female Athlete of the Year. Her place in the record books was cemented in her final regular-season game on February 10, 2010. Scoring two goals in a 3-0 victory over Manitoba, she brought her career total to 213 points—surpassing her former teammate to rank first in conference history. To this day, Tarin remains the Canada West all-time leader in assists (122) and holds the records for single-season points (61) and assists (38). In recognition of these unprecedented accomplishments, her University of Alberta jersey is displayed in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

International and Professional Success

Tarin’s excellence extended to the world stage. In 2006 and 2007, she was chosen for the National Under-22 Canadian Team, representing Canada at the European Air Canada Cup in Germany and helping the team claim gold in both years. She also gained professional experience playing in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League with the Mississauga Chiefs.

Dedication in Pursuit of Excellence and Team Leadership

Tarin’s unmatched list of accomplishments at the University of Alberta, within Canada West, and at the CIS Championships makes her more than worthy of induction into the Wetaskiwin & County Sports Hall of Fame. We applaud her athletic ability, her dedication, her pursuit of excellence, and her team leadership. We are thrilled to welcome her to this prestigious group. Tarin, your family, teammates, friends, and community are so proud of you. Congratulations!
